HOME PROJECTS
Play Tables (December ‘21)
Built two play tables from 30-year-old butternut boards and red oak. Table A was butternut and measured 44x24x19. Table B was two levels: the lower level was butternut and measured 86x40x19, the upper level was red oak and measured 31x28x14. It sits atop of the lower level inside holes drilled with a forstner bit.
Milled the butternut to thickness; and glued the butternut and red oak planks together to create the table tops, sanded the tops/bottoms, routered the edges, chiseled the two inside corners on Table B-lower level, and used battens on the undersides for support. Used colored epoxy in each of the voids.

Bathroom Revitalization (Summer ‘21)
Made cosmetic changes to a sad bathroom. Caulked between crown molding and ceiling; baseboard and wainscotting; wainscotting and walls; shoe molding and floor. Primed and painted the pine (and knotty) wainscotting. Primed and painted the walls. Replaced the outlets and switches. Replaced the bathroom vent and light. Replaced the sink faucet. Primed and painted the vanity and replaced the hardware. Replaced the door hinges and knobs. Primed and painted hanging wall cabinet and small standing cabinet. Sanded down previously poorly painted wood floor, patched with wood filler, sanded, primed, painted, stenciled, and sealed with a top coat. Built a shower caddy from a wood closet rod and wood soap dishes; and cut a wood closet rod to size, stained, and sealed for a shower curtain.
Time lapse: Updating an unprotected painted wood bathroom floor

American Girl Doll Beds (December ‘20)
Built two doll beds from red oak 1x3s, 2x2s, and 1x2s. Cut each piece with the table saw; used a driver, a drill, a drill bit with countersink, 1-¼” and 2” screws, and glue for assembly. Filled holes with wood filler, sanded using an orbital sander and by hand, and finished with stain and polyurethane.
Basement Bedroom Remodel (2015)
Turned a section of the basement into a bedroom. Ripped out the existing finishes (carpet, paneling, drop ceiling, studs) and redid everything. Installed the framing, insulation, and drywall (for both walls and ceiling). Taped and mudded the drywall. Resurfaced the cement floor, laid down vapor barrier, and installed floating vinyl flooring. Designed and built a large reach-in closet. Finished the area beneath the stairwell to serve as a mini closet/storage area. Created a built-in/between-the-studs cubby-hole wall for books.
